Hello.Â
I'm Damion, a graphic designer and production artist based in Oakland, CA. I have four cats, a family, and a big blockheaded dog. I love bright colors, riding my bike, loud music, and applied creativity. I'm unapologetically progressive in my views, and firmly believe that "the way it's always been" is no reason to not look for improvement or change.

What do I do?
The short answer is, I make you look good. The longer answer? I do production art and graphic design that elevates your product or message and helps you reach others with what you want to say.
I also design packaging that fits your needs, examine and improve processes, ensure your ideas make it successfully to the screen or printed media, and create honest and approachable identities for your brands.
Â
How much experience have I got?
A lot. I started when scanners were the size of a small car, html was arcane wizardry, and modems went "skronk". I've seen things come and go, and kept up with it all. Suffice it to say, if you have a design or process need, I can help.
Or, you can take a look at my resume and portfolio sections.

How much do I charge?
I typically charge in the neighborhood of $50 - $150 /hr on a sliding scale determined by the nature of the project, time involved, and other influences. For some causes and clients the cost can be as little as $0. I am fully aware that "exposure" doesn't pay this bills, but this isn't that - there are conditions, but don't worry, they're manageable. Why do "free" work at all? I think everyone deserves nice things, and, holding to that, if a cause or organization needs help (and aren't evil), I am willing to help. Because it's the right thing to do. Contact me to learn more about my pricing and what qualifies for the "Good Cause" 100% discount.

How long does this sort of thing usually take?
Depends on the project. A simple one-off advertisement or layout project can be done in a day or two. A complete book, brand kit, or packaging suite can take upwards of a month, depending on materials supplied and review cycles. Process improvement consultations take the longest as they tend to be the most hands-on and collaborative of the things I do.
My Focus Features
While I'm happy to discuss any project you might have, I do have a few areas where my experience and talents shine a little brighter.
Print Production
I started in print, and I remain enraptured by the complex world of ink on paper. Book design, newsprint, brochures, large format posters and banners, the whole kit. If you have a project that needs to exist in the physical world, I can help take your ideas from the screen to the press.
Packaging
Things come in packages. I speak that language. Die-lines, folds, adhesive areas, regulatory requirements. If your product needs a nice suit, let's talk.
Creative Direction
You have an idea, but you would like help moving it from the realm of pure speculation into something more final. Let's discuss it. I have extensive experience working with people, and groups, to bring their goals to life, and I am happy to partner with you to bring your personal vision into reality.
Brand Identity
Product drives brand. I can help you make sure your brand agrees with and supports your product. Color sets, logos, multiple use cases. Let's make a face for you to show the world!
Process Improvement
Design isn't just about making pictures or logos. Design is, at its core, about using applied creativity to make things better. This means you can apply design thinking to actions across a wide array of situations. I have done this with teams, with individuals, and with processes. Are you having challenges that a new set of yes could help? Let's talk.
