Sure, I
can help
with that.....
Yes. I Will Work for “Free”.
The quotes are there for a reason, but we’ll get there. First though, let’s talk about why.
I love art, and design, and making beautiful things. I believe communication and the arts are vital to our success as people, and I believe nobody should be shut out of those things just because they might not have the means or time to do it themselves. So I’m willing to do these kinds of things for people, free of charge. Sort of.
There Are Conditions – Because.
If I accept a “pro bono” job, I expect some form of support, maybe not monetary on your end, but something. It’s a relationship after all. This can be promotional effort from you – even if it’s just a very noticeable bit of self-promotion on the things I make for you, or, if you (or people you know) can tip, I’d appreciate it. (My Ko-Fi is here: ko-fi.com/dmtalchemy) Designers gotta eat and pay bills, y’know? Heck, even if you don’t NEED my work, but like my vibe, you can drop a coin in the hat, I’m not that proud, and if you need something down the line, or even just want a picture of a horrible little monster, sure, I’ll do that for you. :D
The main thing is, I want to make neat stuff that supports good people and causes, and the best way I can do that is by donating my skills and talents.
What Will I Do (For You)?
Well, just about anything in the design/presentation/performance space. I’m an experienced designer, a excellent public speaker and talented (and experienced) if amateur, actor. This means the list looks a bit like this:

-
Wearables
-
Simple Websites (no e-commerce stuff)
-

-
Vendor Assistance
-
Staffing a Booth
-
Serving the Food
-
Mucking out the Stables
-
Pulling Swords out of Recalcitrant Rocks

-
Helping you find someone who can do what I can’t (I know a few people)
Basically, I will do whatever needs doing as long as it involves creativity and/or performance.
Who Qualifies?
In my “About” I mentioned that I am unapologetically progressive in my views. That’s where this kicks in. I will happily work for free for social justice causes, racial justice causes, inclusive nerd-gamer-geek culture, LGBTQ+ causes and organization, feminist orgs and events, Trans Rights stuff, educational programs, single-owner small businesses that I like, anything that promotes the notion of fewer billionaires walking the planet (by whatever means necessary), and (almost) anything on the leftward side of things.
What I won’t do: is give away work for anyone who can pay, but just wants free labor. Nor am I too keen on supporting any corporate or large business gratis. They can pay me. And sometimes not even that. Also, anything that even hints of the right wing, most “centrist” nonsense, any group that has core principles rooted in discrimination or hate, or any causes or events on the hard (or even somewhat flaccid) right are not on my welcome list. I am also extremely hesitant to do work for religious institutions of any kind, sorry.
That's the pitch, what do you think?
If this all seems agreeable to you, let’s have a conversation. Or even if you just want to talk about weird stuff, hit me up. My door, well, it’s not open. But the comment box sure is. :D
